### Overview

*This unit builds on the understanding of fractions and whole numbers developed in the elementary grades. During this unit students will use the meaning of fractions and the meanings of multiplication and division and the relationship between multiplication and division to understand and explain why the procedure for dividing fractions make sense. Students will also extend their previous understandings to develop fluency with operations related to decimals.*
