## Unit 3: Reasoning with Equations

### Overview

*Students will be able to identify the properties of equality for real numbers. They will recognize and use properties of equality of real numbers as reasons to justify steps when solving equations through deductive/inductive reasoning. Students will apply these properties to solve linear equations involving one-step, two-steps, multi-steps, and equations with variables on both sides. They will extend these solving processes to linear inequalities. Literal equations will also be solved for given variables. Equations and inequalities will be explored with written applications. Students will be able to solve linear systems of equations by graphing, the substitution method, and elimination method.*
